Some years ago work related stress left me unable to cope with the most simple of home and work day decisions. Depresssed, I recalled how some years earlier I had met a Hypnotherapist who had helped me focus on the now and so began my voyage of discovery into the world of hypnotherapy. I quickly realised how easy it was for people to set up as a hypnotherapist with no qualifications and this concerned me. I sought out and found a well reknowned trainer and school and joined the two societies who represent the highest ethical standards in the world of Hypno and Psychotherapy. I adhere to their Codes of Practice and Ethics and I have both Professional and Public Liablity Insurance. As part of my continuing professional development I am studying for a higher diploma in Hypnotherapy with the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy). I feel that my therapy training and twenty five years at a senior level in the public sector dealing with all the types of stresses and difficulties that people encounter in their lives, gives me a profound understanding of what we need. Which is to be listened to, before we are told by someone else, what we need and what to do. My experiences working with people affected by large scale emergencies and trauma and my training in emergency debriefing techniques , at the Emergency Planning College in York, has given me an understanding that the solution to our problems lies within us but we often need someone to open the door for us. I have an office at home, which I feel is more private and relaxed. I do travel to see clients at their home or where they are residing, such as a hospice with pallative care.
With eating disorders I offer a specialsed personal four week support programme.
